Fairfield County recognizes public safety telecommunicators during national appreciation week

Fairfield County officials recognized National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week on Apr. 16, thanking the county’s telecommunicators for their dedication and service.

The recognition highlights the important role that public safety telecommunicators play as the first point of contact in emergencies, providing support to residents and emergency personnel alike.

In a statement, Fairfield County said, “To our Fairfield County Public Safety Telecommunicators—thank you for your professionalism, patience and unwavering commitment to public safety. Day and night, you answer calls that range from routine to life-threatening, often serving as the first point of contact in moments of fear, confusion and crisis. Your ability to remain calm under pressure, gather critical information and dispatch the help that saves lives does not go unnoticed.”

Officials also acknowledged the impact these workers have on local emergency response teams: “You are the unseen heroes behind every emergency response, providing reassurance to callers and vital support to our Sheriff’s Office, Fire Services, EMS, and Rescue Squad personnel. Your work requires skill, compassion and resilience, and our community is safer because of your dedication.” The county further stated its gratitude: “On behalf of Fairfield County, thank you for your service, your sacrifice and your commitment to protecting and serving our citizens every single day. We are grateful for all that you do.”

Fairfield County provides a variety of services aimed at enhancing quality of life for residents through recreation programs such as sports leagues and health classes according to its official website.
