The Fairfield County Animal Shelter announced on May 2 that Ty Cohen, a Kennel Technician, is being recognized in the latest Employee Spotlight for her dedication to animal care at the shelter.
Cohen’s work is highlighted as an example of commitment to animal welfare and community service. Her daily responsibilities include cleaning, feeding, and checking on each animal at the shelter. She is described as outgoing, funny, and empathetic, with a passion for outdoor activities and working with animals. Cohen said her favorite part of the job is “working with behavioral dogs and adoption events.”
The recognition comes as Fairfield County continues to offer various programs supporting quality of life for residents. The county supports athletic activities through parks and recreation programs that provide sports, gymnastics, and health classes for all ages according to the official website. Community culture is also enriched by annual festivals, art galleries, historic sites, and museums offering both entertainment and education as reported by the official website.
In addition to its focus on recreation and culture, Fairfield County maintains key facilities such as the Fairfield County Airport with a 5,243-foot runway; libraries; museums; parks; and senior centers as outlined on the official website. The county has also earned recognition for its magnet school in math and science receiving the Palmetto Finest School distinction as per the official website.
Fairfield County partners with organizations including the Lake Marion Regional Water Agency and Summers Corner Improvement District as noted on the official website. These partnerships are part of broader efforts to provide exceptional quality of life opportunities for residents and visitors alike according to the official website.
Cohen has served less than one year at the shelter but has already made an impact. The announcement concludes by thanking her “for your hard work and for making a difference in the lives of so many animals and our community!”
