The Chapin High School cheerleading team was recognized at the State House on Apr. 16 for winning another state championship. The team, which has built a strong record of success over the years, continues to add to its list of accomplishments.
The continued achievements of the Chapin cheerleaders highlight their impact in both their school and community. Their repeated victories bring pride and attention to local athletics.
State Representative Nathan Ballentine praised the team, saying, “You can’t spell Champion without Chapin.” He also described the program as an “incredible dynasty we have here in our community.” Ballentine said Coach Vicki is dedicated to her work and expects excellence from everyone involved in the program.
The Chapin cheerleading program has won state championships in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008 through 2012, and then again from 2014 through 2019. They have added more titles in recent years with wins in 2021, 2023, 2024, and most recently in 2025. This brings their total number of state titles to nineteen—seventeen of those earned within the last twenty-one years.
This year’s celebration included not only parents and Principal Ed Davis but also marked a milestone for Lexington Richland School District Five by bringing Billie Williams as its first female athletic director during its seventy-five-year history.
Ballentine concluded with a message from Speaker: “Keep winning ladies, and we’ll keep celebrating with you! See you next year!”
The Chapin cheerleaders’ ongoing success sets an example for other teams across South Carolina. Their achievements continue to inspire students throughout the district.
